This album also stands as one of the last recordings featuring Grimm on vocals and drums. His vocal delivery is quintessentially black metal—cold, hateful, and commanding—yet measured: not overly raspy, not cartoonishly high-pitched. His drumming may not chase technical showmanship, but it is tight, deliberate, and rock-solid, giving the compositions room to breathe and build. Aphazel’s riffcraft is the album’s beating heart: dark, hypnotic, and frequently epic, reinforced by keyboards used sparingly for atmosphere and interludes (not as a sugary overlay). The bass is unusually present and audible, locking drums and guitars into a cohesive, physical low-end.
