OLD MAN’S CHILD made a commanding full-length debut with Born of the Flickering. This official 2023 reissue from Soulseller Records presents the Norwegian black metal classic on limited transparent purple/silver A/B-side vinyl.
Led by Galder—credited as Grusom on the original release—the album combines cold, melodic guitars with dynamic shifts between fast aggression and powerful mid-paced passages. Restrained keyboards and acoustic interludes deepen the atmosphere without overwhelming the core black metal instrumentation.
Tracks such as “Demons of the Thorncastle”, “King of the Dark Ages” and the title song showcase memorable melodies, varied structures and the majestic darkness that established the band’s identity. The refreshed edition retains the original cover artwork while revising the layout and properly crediting Aldrahn for his role in this landmark recording.
The LP includes a double-sided inner sleeve and a separate double-sided insert, making it an essential collector’s edition of the Old Man’s Child debut.
