Flame Within Flame marks the triumphant return of Finnish black metal institution Sargeist. Released in 2026 via World Terror Committee, this black vinyl edition continues the band’s legacy as one of the most influential forces in the Finnish Black Metal scene.
For over 25 years, Sargeist — led by mastermind Shatraug (also of Horna) — have stood at the forefront of Suomi Black Metal. Alongside Horna, Behexen and Satanic Warmaster, Sargeist helped define the modern Finnish sound and inspired countless bands worldwide.
A Reforged Lineup, An Unextinguishable Flame
This album introduces a renewed lineup featuring:
- Shatraug – guitars & vocals
- VJS – guitars
- Spellgoth – bass
- Nur-i-Siyah – drums
Most notably, Shatraug returns to vocal duties for the first time since the band’s early demo era. His voice is morose, weathered, and ritualistic — a perfect counterpart to the album’s sorrowful yet burning atmosphere.
Atmospheric Yet Ferocious
While unmistakably classic Sargeist, Flame Within Flame carries a deeper melancholic undercurrent than previous records. The riff work of Shatraug and VJS weaves icy tremolo melodies with ragged aggression, creating an atmosphere that is both triumphant and mournful.
The production remains spacious yet immediate, allowing every layer — from Spellgoth’s expressive bass lines to Nur-i-Siyah’s relentless drumming — to breathe without sacrificing intensity.
This is Finnish Black Metal at its most refined and emotionally charged: aggressive, sorrowful, and spiritually ablaze.
