SKOGEN established the foundation of their distinctive sound with Vittra, presented here in a 2015 CD edition by Nordvis Produktion. Listeners familiar with later works such as I Döden will recognize the early form of the band’s cold, expansive and deeply melancholic style.
Across ten tracks, slow and mid-paced black metal riffs merge with restrained folk elements, acoustic textures and sombre melodies. The music unfolds patiently, creating an immersive atmosphere shaped by shadowed forests, fading daylight and the silence of the Swedish wilderness.
From the mist-covered opening of “Dimfärd” through the autumnal weight of “Höst” to the finality of “Slutet”, the album maintains a compelling balance between rawness, melody and natural atmosphere.
