    VED BUENS ENDE challenged the conventions of the Norwegian underground with Those Who Caress the Pale. Originally released on cassette in 1994, this legendary demo introduced the dissonant guitar work, unconventional structures and unsettling atmosphere that would later define the band’s singular approach to avant-garde black metal.

    The material moves far beyond conventional second-wave aggression. Angular riffs, bleak melodies and unpredictable rhythmic turns create a twisted, dreamlike sound that remains distinctive decades after its creation. These early compositions reveal the foundations of the experimental vision later expanded on Written in Waters.

    This official 2025 vinyl edition from Soulseller Records restores the cult recording alongside three bonus tracks: “Insects, Pt. I”, a 1994 rehearsal version of “You That May Wither” and a live 1995 performance of “Den såkaldte”. The release also features exclusive liner notes written by all three band members.

    Pressed on white/black swirl vinyl and strictly limited to 500 copies, the LP comes in a sleeve printed on 300 gsm reverse-side carton with reverse-side printing. A double-sided insert printed on 140 gsm offset paper completes this carefully produced collector’s edition.
