Long before AKHLYS became a towering, hypnotic force in modern black metal, the project was birthed in 2009 as a pure, solitary channel for ritualistic, nocturnal horror. Now, Debemur Morti Productions presents the definitive 2025 reissue of the long-lost debut album, Supplication, housed in a premium 4-panel digipak.
Driven by his “personal daemon,” mastermind Naas Alcameth (the visionary behind Nightbringer, Bestia Arcana, and Aoratos) initiated Akhlys in tribute to the ancient Greek goddess of the “death-mist” — the daughter of chaos and bringer of ultimate misery. Originally released in 2009 on an incredibly limited CD-R, Supplication is a tense, deeply disturbing, and claustrophobic work of pure Horror Ambient.
Divided into two massive, seamless movements — “Supplication Part I” and “Supplication Part II” — this album is a trance-inducing, highly personal melding of spiritual and mythic nightmares. Alcameth crafts an oppressive universe through haunting, low-end synths, ominous, industrial-tinged sound design, ghostly, disembodied vocalizations, and solemn, slow-marching percussion. It does not merely play in the background; it acts as a psychological catalyst, conjuring vivid images of suffocating tombs, sleep paralysis, and the cold drift of the astral plane.
True to the legendary, uncompromising aesthetic of Debemur Morti Productions, the first batch of this physical edition is pressed on a highly collectible black polycarbonate CD.
