Like its predecessor, Dauði Baldrs, it is an instrumental, pure ambient masterpiece. Stripped of guitars and drums, Vikernes was allowed access to a keyboard and recording device for only one single week to compose and capture these chilling melodies.

Though lyrics are printed within the booklet, the music itself remains entirely instrumental. The text serves as a conceptual guide, meant to inform the listener of the precise atmosphere, tragic myths, and deep emotional resonance that each track was designed to evoke.
