MOONBLOOD – Conquering the Ravenland (2CD)
Cult German Black Metal! Moonblood continues their relentless excavation
of early underground history with Conquering the Ravenland. This expansive 2CD
release captures the band’s unofficial 8th Rehearsal, originally recorded in the spring
and early summer of 1996 (April and June).
For this 2022 release via
Misanthrophia Discos,
the material has been professionally restored directly from the original master tape. The result is a
colossal 11-track journey that showcases the band’s raw, unfiltered extremity and deep connection to the
roots of the European Black Metal underground.
Disc 1 opens with the epic Born to Live in the Shadows of Damnation and plunges
deep into the band’s signature frostbitten atmosphere with the sprawling title track, the eerie
Claws of the Fog, and the pagan-tinged Forgotten Pride of My Ancestors Cult.
Disc 2 kicks off with a massive, faithful, and utterly crushing cover of Bathory’s
legendary “Blood, Fire, Death” — a clear testament to Moonblood’s deep reverence for
the forefathers of the genre. The disc continues with the militant A Forgotten Vision of War,
the aggressive Show Me Your Wrath, and closes with the triumphant I Hail the Night.
A mandatory acquisition for collectors of cult German Black Metal, rare rehearsal tapes, and the true,
uncompromising underground spirit.
