TODSTURM – Totalitarian Lust CD
A ferocious, cold, and unrelenting storm of hatred from the Polish underground. Emerging from Kędzierzyn-Koźle, TODSTURM is a formidable new force on the Polish black metal scene. Consisting of the mysterious vocalist Grimfrost and veteran drummer Xaphan (known from his work in Infernal Legion and Kryptik), this unholy duo has unleashed their savage debut demo, Totalitarian Lust. Released on CD via Metal Front in 2026, this record delivers nearly thirty minutes of raw, uncompromising, and deeply hateful old-school extremity.
There is absolutely no room for modern embellishments, over-production, or pretense here. Todsturm draws direct, unholy inspiration from the raw, unpolished beginnings of the genre, harking back to the legendary 90s Polish black metal pioneers — most notably the early, cold spirits of Veles and Graveland. The album is structured around simple, highly dynamic, and slightly bouncy song structures driven by sharp, icy riffs and energetic, marching drum patterns. Grimfrost’s vocals are a standout, spewing venomous, raspy hatred with absolute conviction, while the lyrics (written primarily in English) explode with aggression against all that is considered sacred.
The album consists of an ominous, martial intro followed by seven tracks of sheer sonic warfare. As a special bonus, the release features a devastating, Polish-language cover of Honor’s cult anthem “PeÅ‚ni nienawiÅ›ci” (Full of Hate), sealing the album with a final stamp of absolute hostility. If you worship the raw, unpolished, and dangerous era of 90s European black metal, Totalitarian Lust is a mandatory weapon for your collection.
Like hawks of hate hunting doves of peace — the march has begun.
