TORTORUM – Extinctionist – Digipak CD
Extinctionist is the debut full-length album by Bergen-based black metal act Tortorum. Originally released in 2012 by World Terror Committee, the album presents nine tracks of fierce, raw and uncompromising Norwegian Black Metal deeply rooted in the heritage of the legendary Bergen scene.
Founded in 2010 in Bergen, Norway – a city responsible for shaping the sound of second-wave Black Metal – Tortorum channel the cold atmosphere and militant aggression that made the region infamous worldwide.
Pure Bergen Black Metal Spirit
From the opening track “Aeonscourge”, the influence of classic Bergen bands is undeniable. Fans of Immortal, Taake, and early Gorgoroth will immediately recognize the icy riffing, sharp tremolo melodies, and relentless blast-driven structures.
Tracks such as “Kindling the World Conflagration” echo the epic frostbitten grandeur associated with Immortal’s early 2000s era, while “Fucking Worthless” and “Mother Infirmity” embrace a more primitive and direct approach reminiscent of early Norwegian Black Metal recordings.
Relentless and Direct
Extinctionist does not attempt to reinvent the genre. Instead, it refines and channels the core elements of classic Norwegian Black Metal: razor-sharp riffs, cold atmosphere, militant drumming, and venomous vocals.
The production is powerful and clear without sacrificing rawness. Guitars cut sharply through the mix, drums remain tight and aggressive, and the vocals maintain a harsh, commanding presence throughout the album.
This is traditional Black Metal done with conviction — uncompromising, frostbitten, and faithful to its roots.
