TRELLDOM – …by the word… (CD Digipak, 2026)
With …by the word…, Trelldom continue to push forward into the new musical era
unleashed by the previous full-length …by the shadows… (2024) — the album that ended a 17-year hiatus.
Mastermind Kristian Eivind Espedal (Gaahl) and his carefully selected collaborators go even further
beyond the complex yet sinister foundation established on its predecessor.
The exponentially grown confidence and experience gained from bringing together seemingly different musicians is
audible in every track. Trelldom have completed the process of escaping the narrowest definition of black metal
without compromising their artistic mission. The band remains loyal to the spirit of their black metal roots, while
making a solid point that this new sound is darker and fiercer than ever — only in more twisted,
unhinged and unexpected ways.
A key element is Gaahl’s expanded vocal range, pushed into unexplored territories. This transformation was partly
achieved through his return to the legendary Grieghallen Studios in Bergen to work again with
iconic producer Eirik “Pytten” Hundvin, a cornerstone in the creation of the classic Norwegian black
metal sound. The result is an intense, challenging record driven by avant-garde dissonance, wicked
rhythm patterns, and wild ideas — music that demands focused listening and destroys preconceptions.
…by the word… comes as a CD digipak with a 12-page booklet,
released by Prophecy Productions in 2026. Better prepare to be challenged by every note.
