UADA – Devoid of Light (Jewelcase CD, Eisenwald 2016)
From the darkness, Uada emerges breathing the spirit of the original 90’s Black Metal wave.
Formed in 2014, the Portland, Oregon four-piece developed a signature approach that fuses raw Black Metal attack
with spectral, sweeping melodies—a sound that feels both classic and uniquely their own.
Devoid of Light rekindles a flame and resurrects spirits from the past in pure blackness.
The album was self-recorded by the band and then mastered by Joel Grind
(Toxic Holocaust), with cover artwork by Kris Verwimp and band photography by Peter Beste.
The result is cold, melodic and relentless—dark waves of guitar lines drifting like winter gales and grave-side mist.
“dark waves of guitar melody that sweep through the music like a winter gale (and sometimes drift like a grave-side mist)”
— No Clean Singing
“diabolical and deep… more melodic… The result scratches the infernal itch perfectly…”
— Metalsucks
